Ambassador Daerr officially began his duties leading the EU Delegation in Malaysia on September 1, 2024. He formally presented his credentials to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, on October 21, 2024.
He brings over two decades of diverse diplomatic experience to the forum. Prior to his appointment in Malaysia, he served as a Political Adviser in the Cabinet of EU High Representative Josep Borrell Fontelles. In this capacity, he covered geopolitical developments across the Middle East, North Africa, and Iran from 2019. His extensive career track record also includes managing Parliamentary Affairs for the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels, serving as the German Consul in Iran, and operating as a Senior Adviser within the European Parliament.
Ambassador Daerr holds a Master in International Economic Law from Sorbonne University in Paris and a Master of Arts in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges. Born in Japan, he speaks German and French as his mother tongues and is fully fluent in English and Spanish.
Farah Deena operates at the critical intersection of corporate strategy and national social policy, currently serving as a Senior Associate in the M&A Corporate Group at Azmi & Associates. Her robust legal acumen in navigating complex corporate transactions is deeply enriched by her impactful tenure in the public sector.
Previously serving as the Officer to the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, she played a pivotal role in shaping the nation's overarching social and welfare agendas. In this strategic advisory capacity, she was instrumental in driving critical policy development, contributing directly to landmark initiatives such as the Malaysia Care Strategic Framework and Action Plan 2026–2030, the National Women's Policy and Action Plan 2025–2030, and the National Social Policy 2030. Bridging the gap between high-level corporate governance and meaningful societal advancement, Farah remains a steadfast advocate for sustainable development, dedicated to fostering frameworks that champion both economic growth and inclusive social equity.
