YB Dr. Mohammed Taufiq bin Johari stands at the forefront of the nation's human capital and athletic development as the Minister of Youth and Sports of Malaysia, while concurrently serving as the elected Member of Parliament for Sungai Petani. In his ministerial capacity, he is dedicated to advancing a dynamic national agenda that strengthens opportunities for young Malaysians, cultivates future leaders, and champions sports as a critical avenue for national development, wellbeing, and social cohesion.

His comprehensive approach to public administration is deeply rooted in his academic discipline and extensive early leadership foundation. A medical doctor by training with a Doctor of Medicine degree from Bandung Islamic University (UNISBA), YB Dr. Taufiq forged a strong commitment to community engagement during his academic years. He held pivotal advocacy roles in Indonesia, including serving as President of the Faculty of Medicine Da’wah Council, Chairman of the Malaysian-Indonesian Student Executive Council (BEM), and Yang Dipertua of PKPMI Bandung. Through these platforms, he spearheaded cross-cultural welfare, volunteerism, and holistic leadership initiatives, laying a robust groundwork for his transition into national public service.

Building upon this grassroots advocacy, YB Dr. Taufiq has cultivated a distinguished career spanning youth empowerment, political organization, and parliamentary affairs. A prominent voice in youth politics, his trajectory includes serving as Chief of the PKR Kedah State Youth Wing, with ongoing leadership mandates as Deputy Chairman of the PKR Kedah State Leadership Council and Vice Chief of the PKR Youth Wing. Prior to his Cabinet appointment, he drove targeted economic empowerment as the Chairman of TEKUN Corporation. His governance perspective is further elevated by his active participation in high-level international parliamentary platforms—including AIPA, PUIC, and AFPPD—allowing him to seamlessly blend his medical background and extensive political acumen to shape an inclusive, forward-looking future for Malaysian youth.
